Chichibu in May (second year in a row)

We have been trying to find a day to visit Kimball's cousin Kenichi and Shizuko. Every time we would set a date the weather forecast showed rain. Finally, after three failed dates, we decided to just go and see what happened. It turned out to be a lovely day!

Our plan was to bring a picnic and eat outside at the park (hence the reason for all the canceled dates due to rain). It rained in the morning and was very cloudy on our drive to Chichibu, but once we arrived the sun came out and it was such a nice day!

We visited Chichibu last year in May and it was quite hot and humid, but on this day, it was not hot, not cold, and not humid - perfection! The picnic was delicious and then Ken and Shizuko took us to visit a couple of temples nearby. Ken told there are over 30 temples in Chichibu!

Ken and Shizuko gave us the 2024 Japan "Champion Strawberries" the Amaou! They are the perfect blend of sweetness and acidity. And all the same size!
